Toyota PRIUS 2010 model hits Indian Markets

The Toyota Prius is a full hybrid electric mid-size car developed and manufactured by the Toyota Motor Corporation. The Prius is the most fuel efficient gasoline car currently sold in the U.S. according to the United States Environmental Protection Agency.

The all new Toyota Prius hybrid is available in two variants: Toyota Prius Z3 and Toyota Prius Z4. The price tag of the variants is Rs 26.55 and Rs 27.86 lakh (ex-Delhi showroom rates).

            The EPA and California Air Resources Board (CARB) also rate the Prius as among the cleanest vehicles sold in the United States based on smog forming and toxic emissions.
            This car offers dual-operating modes,driven by Electric motors and generators and also by Fuel, while the fuel comsumption is very less due to the latest Hybrid Synergy Drive, Regenerative braking etc.,
            There is a Computer program used in the Prius that shuts off the engine when the car is stopped, is reversing, or is descending hills, thereby dramatically decreasing fuel consumption in city driving. The HSD's on-board computer program determines when and how to use the engine, motor, or both to power the car and recharge the battery so as to maximize efficiency. 
EV mode:
            When the vehicle is turned-on with the "start" button, it is ready to drive immediately with the electric motor, while electric pumps warm the engine with previously saved hot engine coolant, before the internal combustion engine is started. The delay between starting the car and starting the internal combustion engine is approximately seven seconds.
            A button labeled "EV" maintains Electric Vehicle mode after start up and under most low-load driving conditions. This permits driving with low noise and no fuel consumption, and is advertised as a "quiet" option for short journeys, for example in residential areas at night, in the Asia manual. The car automatically reverts to normal mode if the battery becomes exhausted.

           What an amazing innovation from Toyota in an attempt to safe-guard our Environment and Natural resources.... Kudos ....

VOLKSWAGEN launches 'Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport'

The benchmark for luxury cars in the country has just got higher with Volkswagen Group company Bugatti Automobiles today launching its super premium sports car 'Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport',

with price starting at Rs 16 crore, the most expensive car to hit the Indian roads.

          The Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport, priced at Rs 16 crore onwards, will be distributed by the company's Indian dealer Exclusive Motors. So far, the most expensive cars in India have been the Rolls Royce Phantom and the Maybach, which are priced around Rs 5 crore.
         However, with the Indian luxury car market growing at about 25 per cent there is an opportunity for such expensive cars.

         "The Bugatti Veyron is four times more expensive than what's being sold in the India. So we are currently testing the customer response," Bagla said, when asked if there has been any order for the car.
He said delivery would take about 6-8 months from the date of order.

          The company claims that the Bugatti Veyron is also the fastest car on production that is allowed to drive on normal roads in the world with a top speed of 407 km/hour with an acceleration of 0-100km/hour in 2.7 seconds.
          The car, which uses components made of special materials like titanium, carbon fibre and magnesium is powered by an 8 litre engine with 16 cylinders and is assembled by hand at Molsheim in France.

Sharapova engaged to Sasha Vujacic...

Maria Sharapova, the Russian tennis player and former World No.1 has accepted the marriage proposal of Los Angeles Lakers player Sasha Vujacic.

       The couple were first spotted holding hands about a year ago, got engaged Tuesday after Sasha proposed to Maria Sharapova at his home in Manhattan Beach, California.
       Maria Sharapova has already been spotted out wearing the ring which is reported to include a large diamond comparable which was given by him.

      She became the World No. 1 for the first time on Aug 22, 2005. She is currently ranked World No. 14.
       Maria Sharapova has since won 22 WTA singles titles, 3 WTA doubles titles and 3 Grand Slam singles titles, including 2004 Wimbledon, 2006 US Open and 2008 Australian Open.
        She was also runner-up at the 2007 Australian Open. She has also won the year-ending Sony Ericsson Championships in 2004. The Women's Tennis Association has ranked her World No. 1 in singles on 4 separate occasions.

ROONEY STAYS WITH MAN UTD

Wayne Rooney has agreed a new five-year contract with Manchester United, ending speculation about his future.
         The club confirmed the news on Friday lunchtime, ending an amazing week in which Rooney claimed the Old Trafford outfit no longer matched his ambitions.

 Yet after a staggering 24-hour period, and demonstration by irate supporters at Rooney's house in Prestbury, Rooney is now set to stay at Old Trafford.
       When Sir Alex was asked about the dramatic turn-around of events he said," Sometimes, when you're in a club, it can be hard to realise just how big it is and it takes something like the events of the last few days to make you understand."
       "I think Wayne now understands what a great club Manchester United is."
        Rooney has said, "I am delighted to sign another deal at United,"
        "In the last couple of days, I have talked to the manager and the owners and they have convinced me this is where I belong.
        "I said on Wednesday the manager is a genius and it is his belief and support that have convinced me to stay.
        "I am signing a new deal in the absolute belief that the management, coaching staff, board and owners are totally committed to making sure United maintains its proud winning history - which is the reason I joined the club in the first place.
         "I am sure the fans over the last week have felt let down by what they have read and seen.
         "But my position was from concern over the future.
         "The fans have been brilliant with me since I arrived and it's up to me through my performances to win them over again."

And Sir Alex has asked the Old Trafford faithful to Forgive Rooney and move on....

CHINA vs BRAZIL -War at the BASKETBALL COURT

In a Basketball friendly match between China and Brazil as part of a warm-up match ahead of Asian Games 2010, it headlines for all wrong reasons as there was a brutal fight between the players of both sides, but it was the Brazilians who were on the receiving end as their Chinese counterpart torn them apart.

As a result the Chinese players have been suspended by the Chinese Basketball Association and it is expected that the Chinese team may also be banned from participating in the Asian Games 2010 in China..

Team INDIA in new ODI Jersey

Team India will debut in the new ODI kit in their first match against Australia at the Jawaharlal Nehru stadium in Kochi on Sunday.

The new jersey is made entirely from recycled polyester, each one produced from up to eight recycled plastic bottles, Ravi Kallayil, Business Director-Cricket Nike India Private Ltd, told reporters.

 The new kit is an important step in the process to make all Nike products more sustainable.

"The new ODI kit not only looks great and delivers performance benefits, but is also made with recycled materials, creating less impact on the environment," he said.


Nike would provide cricket fans an assortment of jersey replicas, including the authentic game day jersey.

Besides, a complete range of the team's training and travel gear will also be part of this range. These products would be made available at Nike stores and leading multi-brand doors across the country, he said.

The new ODI kit is made from Nike's proprietary DriFit Technology- 'Denier Differential' for superior moisture management. Yarns of different circumference are used on the face vis-a-vis the back to create increased surface area, resulting in an exceptional way to transport moisture through the fabric, keeping athletes cool and dry, Kallayil said.

The Aerographic print on the back panel along high sweat zones enhances cooling while increasing aesthetics. The 'Gusset' construction based on body motion analysis allows for maximum flexibility and stretch for the athletes.

"The kit has been designed to keep players drier, cooler and more comfortable allowing them to maintain an optimum body temperature and perform at their best on pitch," he said.

Ventilation zones, with upto 200 tiny laser cut holes, are placed on each side of the jersey to enhance breath-ability. Air can now pass across a player's whole torso, keeping him cooler.

The design and aesthetics of the new kit draws inspiration from the rich Indian heritage and cricket culture ensuring that the Men in Blue embody the surging new Team India.

But  no new design can ever replace Team INDIA's Light Blue Jersey which India has worn when we won the ICC World T20 in South Africa.
